Synopsis: 

Mis Manos Tejedoras (My Weaving Hands) is a 2D animated short film, and my graduation thesis on the Mayan backstrap loom located in San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas, Mexico. The brocade designs belong to the Tsotsil indigenous group. Unorganized weavers are subject to bargaining and often cannot refuse a sale due to financial needs. The huipiles, or woven blouses, take several months to complete and tourists often constantly undervalue their labor in a colonial market that has undervalued their culture, skill and art.
